Providing accurate, evidence-based health education and furthering the understanding of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment is at the heart of everything we do at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center. That’s why educating cancer patients and their loved ones is an important part of our work and every patient interaction.
At our National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer center, we bring the worlds of clinical care and academic research together. We believe that the more you know about your cancer and its potential treatments, the easier it is for you to move forward with confidence. You can count on us to empower you with information that helps you take an active role in your care.
Education from Day One
A cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming. You may have many questions. We know that information you can trust from compassionate experts can go a long way toward helping you heal, so we’re here to provide answers. Whether you’ve been diagnosed with cancer or you’re caring for someone with the disease, we encourage your questions. We’ll be at your side to address them and give you the information you need when you’re ready for it.
Education from Your Care Team
Cancer patient education is most helpful when it’s ongoing and personalized to you. It begins at your first appointment and continues as you’re preparing for treatment. At every clinical visit—and between visits—we’re here to offer information and answer questions to help you understand your cancer so you can make informed decisions about your treatment and care.
We provide a full range of educational resources, including a patient health library. Information is also available for you to review online using Montefiore MyChart, our online patient portal.
Classes, Events & Support Groups
Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center offers a variety of classes and events for our patients and the people who care for them. These classes cover topics such as cancer treatment education, living with cancer and healthful cooking. Whether you’re a patient or a caregiver, you’ll find information that’s certain to help you navigate your cancer journey.
Because we know the best education and support often comes from people who have walked in your shoes, we also offer several support groups and programs that pair cancer patients with survivors. They provide an opportunity to learn firsthand from others and give you a chance to share your experiences and feelings in a caring, supportive environment.
