Nurse Residency Program at Montefiore Einstein
The Montefiore Einstein Nurse Residency Program is a six month program at our nationally ranked academic medical center. It is designed to ensure that newly licensed nurses develop essential skills and competencies as they transition from nursing students to professional practice. All nurses with less than one year of experience are automatically enrolled, and start dates occur on a rolling basis.
Training the Next Generation of Nurses
Accredited with distinction by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), the ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP) and the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Montefiore Einstein Nursing residents gain hands-on experience in various specialties, emphasizing the importance of evidence-based practice. These include specialty areas such as critical care, maternal-child health, neonatal intensive care and medical-surgical care.
Montefiore Einstein uses the evidence-based and adaptable Elsevier Transition to Practice curriculum as a foundation, which is updated regularly based on accreditation requirements and organizational needs.
The overarching framework educates nurses in the following core domains:
- Collaborative practice
- Communication
