Therapy Student Education Program

About the Therapy Student Education Program

Montefiore Einstein participates in active physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT) and speech-language pathology (SLP) clinical education programs. We have established affiliations with local therapy programs, as well as numerous programs from outside the region. The clinical staff currently accepts 50 to 60 students each year across various clinical settings. We provide clinical affiliations for students at different levels, primarily using a one-to-one supervision model.

We are committed to delivering high-quality learning experiences and guidance to help students cultivate the essential skills needed to become vital and responsible members of the profession. Students are encouraged to refine their communication and clinical skills in accordance with the expectations of both their schools and our site.

Our combined Department includes over 150 therapists, many with 25 to 30 years of clinical experience in various specialties. This resource pool, together with our culturally and linguistically diverse patient population, enables students to gain exposure to a broad range of clinical experiences in a teaching hospital environment, fostering a dynamic and enriching learning atmosphere.

Student affiliations are generally arranged up to one year in advance through collaboration between the Academic and Center Coordinators of Clinical Education. Students receive an orientation and tour on their first day of practice.

Hours

Students follow their clinical instructor’s schedule and may work three to five days per week, covering the seven-day work week. Practice hours vary between:

Monday–Friday: 7:30 am – 9:00 pm
Saturday–Sunday: 8:00 am – 6:00 pm
