Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Fellowship Programs

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation fellowship programs at Montefiore Einstein provide the comprehensive training necessary for physicians to deliver comprehensive care across a variety of clinical settings. Our team of enthusiastic educators applies current evidence-based guidelines to daily patient care and leads efforts to create scientific evidence for the future. Through robust instruction and a well-rounded curriculum, Montefiore Einstein equips trainees with the knowledge and skills required to engage in patient-centered practice. Each program we offer is committed to creating an environment for fellows that fosters personal development, fulfillment and academic growth.

Pain Medicine Fellowship

We seek to instill in our fellows the ability to improve function and decrease pain for our patients through responsible pharmacological mindedness, sound clinical judgment, exceptional science and the integration of the newest and most advanced interventional techniques.

Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine Fellowship

Our fellows will gain clinical exposure to outpatient pediatric rehabilitation clinics at Montefiore Einstein and the Rose F. Kennedy Center, delivering care for children and adolescents with congenital and acquired disabilities, including brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, neuromuscular disorders, hematological and oncological conditions, brachial plexopathy, limb deficiencies, concussions, sports injuries and burn injuries. Fellows will also have designated research time distributed throughout the outpatient months and will participate in a structured pediatric research course over the two years.

Sports Medicine Fellowship

The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program trains our fellows to provide comprehensive care for both athletes and non-athletes across the rehabilitation spectrum. This includes prehabilitation, such as making recommendations for training programs to prevent injuries in athletes; managing acute injuries in collaboration with the Emergency Department team and orthopedic surgeons, and offering rehabilitation care in partnership with the core physical medicine and rehabilitation team, which encompasses cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, balance rehabilitation and therapists across all disciplines.

Women’s Health Rehabilitation Fellowship

This one-year Program is the first in the U.S. to provide a unique approach to female-specific rehabilitation care. It focuses explicitly on the gender differences of musculoskeletal conditions, female pelvic floor dysfunctions, musculoskeletal disorders related to pregnancy, delivery and the postpartum period, osteoporosis and the management of impairments caused by female-specific cancers.
