During Your Stay

At Montefiore Einstein, we want to ensure that during your stay, our expertise, support and resources ensure the best possible experience. See below for important information to help you plan your hospital stay at Montefiore Hospital/Moses Campus, Weiler Hospital/Einstein Campus, Montefiore Hospital/Wakefield Campus.

Hospital Rooms

Patient rooms are organized by medical specialty and assigned based on each patient’s medical need. If you have a preference you may request it, but your first choice may not always be available. There are two room options: semi-private, which is covered by insurance, and private, which includes an additional charge not necessarily covered by insurance. We recommend that you check with your insurance carrier in advance to see what’s covered under your policy.

Telephone

A telephone is provided at your bedside at no charge.

Wi-Fi

Free high-speed wireless Internet is available for use inside patient rooms, waiting areas and outdoor courtyards. You are welcome to connect using your mobile device. No password is required.

Smoking Policy

All Montefiore Einstein campuses are tobacco-free. Smoking and vaping are strictly prohibited in, on and around our hospitals, residential public areas, clinics, buildings, offices, entrance ramps, loading docks, parking lots, garages, outdoor gardens and courtyards.

Meals

We’re sensitive to the cultural dietary needs of our patients. Meals served at Jack D. Weiler Hospital are prepared under rabbinical supervision in accordance with Jewish dietary laws (kashruth). If you have any special meal requests, the Nutrition Department at your hospital can assist you between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. daily.

Mail

Patient mail, including gifts and flowers, is delivered on weekdays, with the exception of holidays. If you know that someone would like to send you something, please tell them to include the hospital address, your name and your room number.

Discharge

It’s a good idea to start thinking about your discharge in advance. For a safe and comfortable departure, you should have arrangements in place before you leave, such as determining who will bring you home, what medications you will need, and when your follow-up appointments should be.

Personal Belongings

While receiving care, we want you to feel at home as much as possible, but please do keep personal items to a minimum. We suggest you bring only necessary personal items, such as eyeglasses, hearing aids, dentures and canes as needed.

Much of what you’ll need during your stay will be provided by the hospital. We recommend leaving any unnecessary items at home or sending them back with family. Please do not bring:

  • Valuables like cash, credit cards and jewelry, including wedding rings
  • Large electronics, such as tablets, laptops and portable video players

If you can’t leave your valuables at home, please speak to a member of your care team to arrange for them to be put in the hospital safe. A written receipt—which must be presented at the time of withdrawal—will be provided.

Montefiore Einstein is not responsible for the loss or damage of any personal property.
