The Montefiore Einstein Center for Bioethics brings together the expertise needed to thoughtfully address complex ethical challenges in healthcare. The Center is engaged in education, policy development, research, and clinical practice, and it supports an active bioethics consultation service and bioethics committee while advancing ethics education and scholarship within and beyond the institution.

  • Bioethics Committee: Our institutional committee meets regularly to analyze bioethical issues, develop hospital policy, review cases and promote bioethics education.
  • Bioethics Education: MECB faculty provide bioethics education to medical students, house staff, and other associates throughout Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
    • Our Certificate Program in Bioethics and Medical Humanities is one of the longest running bioethics educational program in the United States.
    • Our Master of Science in Bioethics equips professionals and trainees to navigate complex moral dilemmas in healthcare, research, and policy by integrating ethical theory with real-world application.
    • MECB’s Bioethics Fellowship provides immersive training and mentorship that prepares future leaders to address pressing ethical challenges in healthcare and public policy.
    • MECB offers both academic and administrative internships during the summer and occasionally during the school year.
