Therapeutic Approach

Your child will participate in structured, evidence-based treatment designed to promote safety, skill-building, and resilience.

Programs typically include:

  • Individual therapy
  • Group therapy
  • Family meetings
  • Milieu and recreational therapy
  • Medication evaluation and management
  • School instruction (provided by certified teachers)

Our program uses evidence-based cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, and trauma-informed interventions, in a compassionate, age-appropriate setting.

Schedule

The day is structured to provide consistency and a sense of safety, while remaining patient-centered and flexible to meet each child’s individual needs. Schedules are modified as needed based on clinical goals or therapeutic activities, and a daily schedule is posted on the unit, so children are aware of any changes and know what to expect each day.

Morning
The day begins with wake-up routines, breakfast, medication administration, a goal-setting group, and academic instruction.

Afternoon
After lunch, the schedule includes visiting hours, individual, group and milieu-based therapeutic sessions, along with supervised recreation, outdoor time and creative therapeutic activities.

Evening
The evening features dinner, visiting hours, and a calm wind-down period leading into the bedtime routine.

About the Team

Each patient is cared for by a dedicated multidisciplinary team that works closely together throughout the entire hospitalization. This team collaborates to develop a comprehensive, coordinated treatment plan tailored to your child’s needs, with a strong focus on safety, healing, and skill-building. We also plan proactively for discharge from the very beginning, ensuring a smooth and supportive transition to aftercare services, community providers, and any resources your child and family may need moving forward.

Safety

Safety is our highest priority.

  • The unit is a secure, locked environment to protect all patients.
  • Staff are trained in trauma-informed care and crisis intervention.
  • Belongings are screened upon admission to ensure safety for everyone.
  • We maintain clear boundaries for privacy and safety during all visits and phone calls.
