About Our Program
The Ambulatory Consults, Urgent Treatment and Evaluations (ACUTE) Psychiatry Program at Montefiore Einstein provides timely psychiatric consultations and urgent care. This unique program addresses the gaps in traditional psychiatric services without overburdening outpatient clinics or relying solely on emergency care. We deliver accessible, responsive care for individuals seeking a path to psychiatric care.
Our multidisciplinary team provides collaborative care within the expansive Montefiore Einstein hospital network. We provide real-time psychiatric support in partnership with the following divisions:
- Urology
- Family Medicine
- Transplant
- Critical Care Medicine
- Oncology
- Hematology
Our Services
The ACUTE Psychiatry Program focuses on expediting psychiatric services that integrate seamlessly with other Montefiore Einstein departments and services. Our team also works on enhancing internal processes that facilitate access to Montefiore Einstein’s extensive outpatient network, ensuring close follow-up for patients transitioning between levels of care.
We partner with the following specialized programs to support our patients:
- Surgical readiness pathways to expedite psychiatric evaluations for bariatric and transgender and nonbinary (TGNAB) gender-affirming medical interventions
- Specialized evaluations for dementia, reproductive psychiatry, sexual wellness and surgical readiness
- Crisis prevention to reduce psychiatric emergencies, medication lapses and unnecessary emergency department and inpatient admissions
- Various internal programs that provide high-quality care to underserved populations in our community while facilitating access to appropriate treatment programs
For more information, please call the Patient Access Center (PAC): 718-684-7173. Our intake team will ask you a brief series of questions to help us determine the best scheduling pathway for your concern.
