Epidemiology & Clinical Research Informatics Shared Resource

The Epidemiology and Clinical Research Informatics Shared Resource serves a crucial dual role for cancer center investigators, supporting the management of both epidemiological and clinical trial research through research management expertise and informatics-based management solutions. We strive to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, serving as a data coordinating center, providing data management services, assisting in the development of pilot and grant proposals and working closely with biostatisticians in the production of complex databases and publications.

We have been integral to developing the Study Management Informatic Systems that facilitate the diverse management, data and operational aspects of implementation of complex study protocols. Study Management Informatic Systems integrates with internal and external Electronic Medical Records and laboratory systems and supports the management of multicenter clinical research projects.

The Epidemiology and Clinical Research Informatics Shared Resource is also responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing oversight of a comprehensive clinical trial and research management program: the Velos eResearch Clinical Trial Research Management System. As part of this work, we provide quality assurance oversight and facilitate compliance and monitoring of all clinical trial activity. The clinical research management process extends from an Institutional Review Board submission to study completion.

We also provide a robust informatics infrastructure capable of leveraging big-data analytic resources to enable a wide spectrum of research across the Montefiore Einstein enterprise. A sophisticated applications framework keeps data governance and security protocols in compliance with national standards and provides for patient-centered, integrative informatics platforms to carry out comparative effectiveness and preventative care research.
