Costa Norte - Centro Médico Judío de Long Island - Primer año
This is a PGY-4 or a PGY-6 rotation intended to give residents a three-month plastic surgery experience at the North Shore and Long Island Jewish Medical Center campuses.
The goals of the rotation are for the residents:
- To participate in private practice plastic surgery that is more common at a large community teaching hospital, including cosmetic surgery, breast reconstruction and more routine pediatric plastic surgery cases.
- Contar con experiencia quirúrgica de alto nivel en casos de cirugía plástica.
- Capacidad para estar a cargo de pacientes de cirugía plástica.
- Estar expuesto a una amplia variedad de opiniones sobre casos quirúrgicos en cirugía plástica.
Al finalizar la rotación, los residentes deberán demostrar un enfoque investigativo y analítico ante las situaciones clínicas, así como saber aplicar las ciencias básicas y clínicamente relevantes para la disciplina.
The senior-level residents should showcompetence and expertise in:
- Congenital defects of the head and neck, including clefts of the lip and palate, and craniofacial surgery.
- Neoplasms of the head and neck, including the oropharynx, and the importance of endoscopy in the management of these cases.
- Craniomaxillofacial trauma, including fractures.
- Aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery of the head and neck, trunk, and extremities.
- Plastic surgery of the breast.
- Surgery of the hand/upper extremities.
- Plastic surgery of the lower extremities.
- Plastic surgery of congenital and acquired defects of the trunk and genitalia.
- Microsurgical techniques applicable to plastic surgery.
- Reconstruction by tissue transfer, including flaps and grafts.
- Surgery of benign and malignant lesions of the skin and soft tissues.
