Smoking Cessation Program
The Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) program offers an 8-week, free smoking cessation program: the Be BOLD–Quit Smoking Program. While the program focuses on smoking cessation, the strategies and support offered are applicable for all tobacco types and vaping. All tobacco and vaping users are welcome to participate in the program. The program is offered both in-person and virtually via Zoom.
What the Be BOLD–Quit Smoking Program Offers
We offer this course in both English and Spanish. The program includes:
- Pharmacotherapy discussion about medicines to help you quit smoking
- Techniques to manage stress and triggers
- Tips for breaking habits and achieve success
- Tools for conquering urges and temptations
- A warm, supportive atmosphere
- Meeting times based on member availability
How the Be BOLD–Quit Smoking Program Works
Designed by a health psychologist, our program uses the best practices to help you reach your goal of living smoke-free. If you are trying to quit or already quit but need support, we can help.
Techniques we use include:
- Cognitive therapy approaches
- Community education
- Group support
- Medication-assisted smoking cessation
You will learn:
- About nicotine replacement
- About substitute behaviors, such as distraction and delay techniques
- By sharing with and hearing from fellow group members
- From cancer survivors
- How to use positive affirmations
- Self-hypnosis
- Self-talk
- Through weekly homework assignments
- To use a smoking behavior log
