Community Events & Education Calendar
Programs & Services
Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center offers a variety of education, prevention and outreach programs and services. These include partnerships designed to improve access to cancer screenings as well as programs focused on elevating the care experience during and after cancer treatment.
BRONx-CAN
If you have cancer, your doctor may recommend therapy to shrink your tumor before surgery. This first-step treatment is known as neoadjuvant therapy and can last weeks or even months. We’ve developed a navigation program called BRONx-CAN to guide you through neoadjuvant therapy and coordinate the many visits, imaging appointments and lab tests you may need. Funded by the American Cancer Society, BRONx-CAN serves people with lung, esophageal, gastric, pancreatic and rectal cancer. The program is designed to improve outcomes through assistance navigaging one’s cancer journey and increase support for people facing cancer—especially those with barriers to care.
Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) Program
Cancer care isn’t only about treating the cancer itself, but about treating each individual in their entirety. We’re here to help you throughout your cancer journey by nurturing your mind, body and spirit. It’s why we created the Bronx Oncology Living Daily (BOLD) Program. BOLD offers free counseling, support services, wellness workshops and more.
Essen Education & Screening Partnership
Screening is essential to catching cancer in its earliest stages. In addition to the screenings at our clinical settings, we partner closely with Essen Health Care—a primary care and urgent care provider in the Bronx—to host free cancer screening events in the community.
Smoking Cessation Program
We know that quitting smoking and other tobacco products can be extremely difficult. But quitting tobacco use is key to better health and may even lower your risk of several types of cancer. We’ve developed a six-session tobacco cessation program—offered in both English and Spanish—to help you quit for good.
URBANA Lung Cancer Screening Outreach Program
Lung Cancer Screening using low-dose CT (LDCT) scans can find lung cancer in its earliest stages. Yet many people remain unaware of their screening options, or need help navigating the screening process. Through a grant from the LUNGevity Foundation we developed Project URBANA: Increasing Access to LUng Cancer ScReening in the Bronx in LAtinx and AfricaN American Communities. This program brings education and screening navigation to communities in the Bronx who are at higher risk for lung cancer.
Yonkers Rotary Club Education & Screening Partnership
We want to make cancer education and screening as accessible as possible. Our partnership with the Rotary Club of the Hudson Valley brings screening and education events into the communities we serve.
Cancer Screenings & Prevention
Cancer awareness and prevention is a key focus of our Cancer Center. Our goal is to prevent cancer or catch it as early as possible to help patients reach their best possible outcome. That’s why we’ve created programs for you and your neighbors to understand your cancer risk, take steps to lower it, catch cancer early and enjoy the highest quality of life during and after cancer treatment.

Liver Cancer Screening
In its earliest and most curable stages, liver cancer has no symptoms, which means awareness and screening is crucial. Know your risk for liver cancer and protect your health with liver cancer screening.
Lung Cancer Screening
Depending on your smoking history and other factors, lung cancer screening might be critical in preventing or detecting cancer. Imaging scans can find lung cancer early, giving you access to a wider range of treatment options. Learn about lung cancer screening.
Prostate Cancer Screening
Though prostate cancer is one of the most common cancers that affect men, screenings make it possible to catch the disease early, and early detection leads to more successful treatments. Learn more about prostate cancer screening and whether it’s right for you.
Skin Cancer Screening
Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the U.S. Regular skin screenings are one of the most effective ways you can protect your health, especially if you have risk factors for skin cancer.
