Montefiore Einstein Orthopedic Oncology offers a fellowship with a unique focus on translational laboratory research in the field of sarcoma. Providing clinical exposure, operative experience and formal didactics, this one-year position is particularly well-suited for candidates interested in pursuing a career as a clinician-scientist. It is supported by the nationally recognized Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) and the NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center, Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Education Experience
Our fellowship is designed to foster and balance autonomous and independent translational research with mentorship and guidance. Montefiore Einstein orthopedic oncologists and research personnel work closely with our fellows. Weekly research meetings with the entire division provide an opportunity to review experimental aims and design, as well as data and manuscript preparation.
Didactics include a surgical indications conference, a multidisciplinary tumor board, protected didactic time with both pathologists and radiologists, and a weekly journal club. By year’s end, trainees are expected to realize a substantial project that culminates in one or more publications.
