About Our Program
The Adult Intensive Outpatient Program at Montefiore Behavioral Health Center provides the Southeast and South Bronx communities access to mental health and primary care treatment. Patients can receive mental health screenings and evaluations and may participate in both individual and group psychotherapy, as well as a wide range of specialty programs. The clinic has established daily walk-in hours for new and existing patients in crisis.
Our award-winning program and staff consist of licensed professionals and clinicians with extensive clinical expertise in all areas of behavioral health who provide compassionate, evidence-based outpatient mental health services that aim to offer a full spectrum of services and intervention programs.
Our team includes psychiatrists, psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed mental health counselors and licensed creative arts therapists. Experts provide outpatient mental health services for adults at three convenient locations in the Bronx: Westchester Square, the Moses Center (on East 210th Street) and the Wakefield Center on Bronx Boulevard (care for adults, adolescents and children).
The MBHC is the proud recipient of the American Psychiatric Association’s Gold Award (2022) and the Bronx Families, Adolescents and Children Consortium Award for Excellence. Additionally, our Department of Psychiatry staff has received the Clinical Excellence Award (2021), the Exceptional Citizenship Award (2022), the Clinical Excellence Award (2023) and Quinnipiac’s Holistic Nursing Award.
Our Services
Upon intake, all patients complete a questionnaire that includes a comprehensive health review and a universal risk screening. Once the applicant is reviewed and determined appropriate for intake, a needs assessment is completed to determine if onsite primary care services are indicated.
Outpatient care is available to treat depression, anxiety, perceptual disturbances and psychosis, mood disorders, personality disorders, trauma, adjustment disorders and ADHD. Our services include:
- Addiction psychiatry
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
- Esketamine
- Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
- Individual and group psychotherapy
- Long-acting injectable clinic
- Medication management
- Narcan distribution
- Primary care
- Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)
We also offer specialized treatment in early psychosis and geriatric psychiatry. Therapeutic interventions include dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), psychodynamic therapy and mindfulness-based stress reduction.
