Art Gallery - Healing Arts at Montefiore
Art Gallery
Our programs engage patients, associates and community members to create beautiful artwork that is often showcased in our hospitals and health centers. We invite you to view highlights of the art created through our programs, together with standout renovations and space design elements.
Oncology Artist-in-Residence Program
These artworks were created by patients through the Montefiore Einstein Center for Cancer Care's artist-in-residence program. A trained artist works onsite one day a week, doing a range of enjoyable art-making activities with patients while they are receiving chemotherapy treatment. This program was founded through an award by the LIVESTRONG Foundation to replicate the hospital artist-in-residence program of The Creative Center.
"Visions of a Healthy Community" Murals
These murals were created with five groups of junior- and high-school aged youth who participated in a collaborative health education and art project on the theme of community health in the Bronx. The project was led by the Montefiore Healing Arts Program, together with Groundswell and five afterschool programs in the Bronx. The murals are installed in the waiting areas of five Montefiore health centers.
ICP at the POINT Photographs
The Montefiore Healing Arts Program coordinates the permanent installation at Montefiore of photographs created by students from ICP at THE POINT, a partnership between the International Center of Photography and THE POINT Community Development Corporation. The images depict the daily lives of Bronx residents as seen through the eyes of Bronx youth.
CHAM Children's Murals
These murals were painted by children through collaboration among the Children's Hospital at Montefiore, Free Arts and the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center. The murals hang in the tunnel between CHAM and the MAP building, bringing brightness and charm to a highly used corridor.
CHAM Design and Art Installations
The Children's Hospital at Montefiore was designed to provide a healing and aesthetic setting for pediatric care. Through unique architectural elements and thematic art installations by local and nationally known artists, CHAM offers a family-centered environment of care with the child as its centerpiece.
Hospital Design and Construction Projects
Montefiore’s Department of Design and Construction spearheads capital projects and renovations designed to enhance the healing nature of the hospital environment. These initiatives promote well-being among patients, family members and associates by providing space and seating layouts that encourage visitation by family and friends, reducing stressors such as noise, glare and clutter; and offering beauty and positive distraction through nature and art.
