Premio Joan H. Bilder a la Excelencia en Enfermería

Joan H. Bilder was appointed associate director of nursing at Jack D. Weiler Hospital, Einstein Campus, in 1965, where she served until her death from cancer in 1987. She was closely involved with the formation of the Department of Nursing and became the co-chairperson of the hospital’s bioethics committee when it was formed. For several years, Joan served on the faculty of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

She will always be remembered for her caring, concern, dedication to patient care, commitment to education, kindness to her co-workers, sense of humor, discipline and devotion to the profession of nursing.

This annual award in Joan’s memory is the highest nursing honor bestowed at Montefiore Einstein. It is given to encourage and continue the excellence in clinical nursing practice that Joan believed in so deeply and demonstrated in her own practice. For her attributes and for her many kindnesses, she and the recipients are honored through this annual award that bears her name.
