How to Apply for Our Program

We’re excited that you’re considering the Jacobi-Montefiore Einstein Emergency Medicine Residency Program, the largest and most diverse emergency medicine (EM) training program in the country. We take pride in serving an urban, underserved patient population across two dynamic academic institutions: NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and Montefiore Einstein Health System.

Our residents are trained in emergency medicine, trauma, critical care, social emergency medicine and systems-based practice, emerging as clinically excellent and equity-driven leaders in emergency care.

Application Process (2025–2026)

We engage the ResidencyCAS centralized application service. Each application is reviewed comprehensively, with a focus on clinical performance, leadership potential, service and alignment with our mission.

Required materials:

  • ResidencyCAS application
  • Personal statement
  • Medical school transcript
  • Medical student performance evaluation—MSPE (Dean’s letter)
  • Three letters of recommendation (standardized letters of evaluation—SLOEs preferred)
  • United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) scores (our Program recognizes the undue burden of completing both exams and considers them equivalent)

Please refrain from emailing our Program team unless specifically requested. Use the ResidencyCAS messaging system for all communication, as it ensures that your message is reviewed in context and by the appropriate members of our team.
