Outstanding Nursing Achievements
Exemplary practice, compassionate care and support for community health are core values that uphold our professional practice model and are embodied by Montefiore Einstein nurses. To honor their extraordinary contributions, we not only participate in national and global nursing recognition programs, but we have also created some of our own.
We are proud to share a selection of accolades for excellence in patient care and commitment to the community.

Joan H. Bilder Award
This tribute in memory of Joan H. Bilder is the highest nursing honor at Montefiore Einstein. Joan was appointed associate director of nursing at Jack D. Weiler Hospital, Einstein Campus, in 1965 and served until her death from cancer in 1987. The annual award recognizes excellence in clinical nursing, a belief that Joan held so deeply and demonstrated in her nursing practice. It is an example of how we celebrate nurses who go above and beyond in patient care.

DAISY Award
The DAISY Award was inspired by the skilled and compassionate care that nurses provided to J. Patrick Barnes during his eight-week hospitalization due to an autoimmune disease. His wife and family established this recognition after he died from disease complications. They created the program as a way to thank nurses everywhere. DAISY stands for Diseases Attacking the Immune System.
