ICP at THE POINT Photography Exhibits

The Montefiore Healing Arts Program coordinates the permanent installation at Montefiore of photographs created by students from ICP at THE POINT, a partnership between the International Center of Photography and THE POINT Community Development Corporation.  The images depict the daily lives of Bronx residents as seen through the eyes of Bronx youth.

The following Montefiore divisions are curerntly sponsoring exhibitions of the photographs:

• Montefiore Medical Group
• South Bronx Health Center and the Center for Child Health and Resiliency
• Department of Family and Social Medicine
• J.E. and Z.B. Butler Center For Children and Families

THE POINT is a non-profit dedicated to youth development in the Hunts Point section of the Bronx.  ICP is the world’s leading institution dedicated to the practice and understanding of photography and the reproduced image.  ICP at THE POINT is a yearlong youth program that teaches photography, writing and public speaking to foster self-esteem, community development and social change.

The images on exhibit are drawn from an archive spanning the past 16 years of ICP at THE POINT.  In acquiring this youth-created artwork, Montefiore succeeds in beautifying its space while reflecting the medical center’s community-driven mission. All proceeds from the sale of the work are shared between the individual student photographers and ICP at THE POINT.
