Michelle Ng Gong, M.D., M.S., Receives the ACTS 2026 Team Science Award

Body

Michelle Ng Gong, M.D., M.S., chair of the department of medicine at Montefiore Einstein, has been named a recipient of the 2026 Team Science Award by the Association for Clinical and Translational Science (ACTS), recognizing her leadership in advancing collaborative, patient-centered research. The honor was presented during the Translational Science 2026 meeting, held April 20–23, and acknowledges the growing role of interdisciplinary teams in translating scientific discoveries into clinical practice.

Dr. Gong was recognized alongside colleagues from the Bronx Center for Critical Care Outcomes and Resuscitation Research (BCCORe), a multidisciplinary group that integrates clinical care, data science and ethics to improve outcomes for critically ill patients. Other members of BCCORe include Montefiore Einstein critical care faculty members Ari Moskowitz, M.D.; Elizabeth Chuang, M.D.; Luke Andrea, M.D.; Daniel Fein, M.D.; and Amira Mohamed, M.D.

BCCORe has built a real-time research infrastructure embedded within hospital and intensive care settings. The program leverages electronic health record data and pragmatic clinical trials to rapidly apply evidence-based practices, bringing the most advanced care to underserved populations in the Bronx. The team’s work has contributed to advances in critical care, cardiac arrest treatment, implementation science and health equity, with findings adopted by institutions in the United States and abroad.

Dr. Gong previously served as chief of the divisions of critical care medicine and pulmonology at Montefiore Einstein and is president-elect of the American Thoracic Society, a leading global organization focused on respiratory health.

The ACTS awards recognize contributions that bridge research and real-world care, highlighting leaders like Dr. Gong who are driving innovation. Individuals and teams are nominated by their colleagues and peers.
