Priscilla Duran-Luciano, M.D., a research fellow in the department of medicine’s division of cardiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, has received three national honors for her cardiovascular epidemiology studies.

On March 19, Dr. Duran-Luciano received the American Heart Association (AHA) Award for Excellence in Research Addressing Cardiovascular Health Equity at the AHA’s Epidemiology and Prevention/Lifestyle and Cardiometabolic Health conference in New Orleans. There, she presented the abstract, “Calibration and Discrimination of PREVENT vs. PCEW in Hispanics/Latinos Across Disaggregated Background Groups, Self-Reported Race, and Genetic Ancestry: The Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos.” The same study was recognized with the Paul Sorlie Award from the Hispanic Community Health Study/Study of Latinos, which noted Dr. Duran-Luciano’s “outstanding contribution to epidemiology research to advance the understanding of health in Hispanic/Latino populations.”

Dr. Duran-Luciano also received an honorable mention from the American College of Cardiology/Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) for the William W. Parmley Young Author Achievement Award. The recognition noted the “rigor, originality, and meaningful contribution to the cardiovascular community” for her 2025 JACC study, “Association of Lp(a) with Cardiovascular Disease and All-cause Mortality in US Hispanics and Latinos.

Dr. Duran-Luciano’s mentor is Carlos J. Rodriguez, M.D., M.P.H., professor of medicine and of epidemiology & population health and the Eleazar and Feige Reicher Chair in Translational Medicine at Einstein and director of clinical cardiology research and of cardiovascular epidemiology at Montefiore.
