Body

Keisuke Ito, M.D., Ph.D., professor of cell biology, of medicine, and of oncology, has been elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation (ASCI). The honor recognizes outstanding scholarly achievement and independent, original contributions to clinical or allied medical sciences, and is awarded to physician-scientists aged 50 or younger. Election to the ASCI is a milestone in a physician-scientist’s career.

Dr. Ito is also director of scientific resources at The Ruth L. and David S. Gottesman Institute for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine. His research focuses on elucidating the regulatory mechanisms governing healthy and malignant hematopoietic stem cells, with an emphasis on stem cell fate decisions, metabolism, and epigenetic regulation to advance therapies for hematologic diseases.

Founded in 1908, ASCI is one of the nation’s oldest and most respected medical honor societies, comprising more than 3,000 physician-scientists—including several at Einstein—across all medical specialties.
