Dr. LaSala developed a program of computer–based localization techniques to refine surgical approaches to intracranial targets such as tumors and eplipetic zones to facilitate their removal. The methods are frequently minimally invasive and help safeguard surrounding vital brain structures. Dr. LaSala is the Department’s Chair of the Quality Improvement Committee and also sits on the Medical Centers Quality Improvement Peer review board. Dr. LaSala is a co-investigator on several multi-institution clinical research trials for the treatment of benign and malignant brain tumors.
