Yorg Al Azzi, MD, earned his medical degree at Saint-Joseph University – Faculty of Medicine in Beirut, Lebanon.  Dr. Al-Azzi completed his residency in Internal medicine at Staten Island University Hospital, followed by 2-year of nephrology fellowship at Mount Sinai Hospital – Icahn School of Medicine and one year of transplant nephrology at Columbia University Medical Center in New York. Dr. Al Azzi is a UNOS certified transplant nephrologist. Dr. Al Azzi is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Nephrology. Dr. Al Azzi is a member of several societies including American Society of nephrology where he acts as a Fellow member and he is also member of the American Society of Transplantation. He has special interest in medical education and acts as the Director for Nephrology rotation for internal medicine residents at Albert Einstein College of medicine / Montefiore Medical Center. He also served as a mentor for medical students at the STAR program of the American Society of Nephrology.  He also has special interest in clinical research, especially in COVID-19 and kidney transplantation. He was one of the co-authors of first report of COVID-19 in kidney transplant recipients published in NEJM. He is also the lead author of many papers discussing COVID-19 and kidney transplantation published in peer-reviewed journals.
