Heart Failure & Cardiomyopathies

Heart failure, also known as congestive heart failure, is a condition that develops when the heart doesn’t pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. The term “heart failure” does not mean that your heart has stopped. However, heart failure is a serious condition that requires medical care.

Cardiomyopathy is a condition affecting your heart muscle, which can make it harder for your heart to pump blood. There are many types and causes of cardiomyopathy. Depending on the type, the heart muscle may become thicker, stiffer or larger than normal, which can weaken the heart and cause arrhythmia, heart failure or cardiac arrest.
