Nurses Week Celebration

Each year, Montefiore's Division of Nursing honors our nurses for their dedication and professionalism during National Nurses Week, an annual celebration started in 1954 to raise awareness and educate the public about the crucial and diverse roles nurses play in healthcare delivery.  Montefiore holds a week of events and activities, including a recognition breakfast at each campus, professional nursing achievement awards, and "Acts of Kindness," where nurses perform kind acts for coworkers.

Nursing—Healing Arts Partnership

Montefiore's Healing Arts Program partners with the Division of Nursing and Human Resources to offer special events during Nurses Week on an annual theme.

2013 Theme: "Telling Our Stories of Care"

Montefiore's nurses shared stories they created on the theme of "Care" through workshops with The Moth, a storytelling organization in New York City.  Special storytelling performance events were held during Nurses Week at the Moses, Wakefield and Einstein campuses. Nurses also enjoyed relaxing 10-minute chair massage during the week.

2012 Theme: "Relaxation and Renewal"

Events focused on enjoyable activities to help nurses relax and recharge.  Nurses received 10-minute chair massage and participated in workshops in meditation, guided imagery, music and relaxation, creating mandalas, movement for relaxation, Reiki, and drum circles.  Many of these workshops were offered by Montefiore associates on a voluntary basis in honor of their Nursing colleagues.
