Silent Hospitals Help Healing (SHHH) Program
Division of Nursing, Montefiore Medical Center

The Silent Hospitals Help Healing (SHHH) Program works to reduce noise levels at Montefiore by educating staff about noise control, and by identifying and correcting the sources of disruptive noise.  Research suggests that noise levels have an impact on patient satisfaction and healing.  By helping to create a soothing hospital environment, the program strives to contribute to the most compassionate standard of patient care.  Following introduction of the SHHH Program, nurses reported lower stress and patients reported enhanced quality of sleep.
