Children's Art Exhibit - Healing Arts at Montefiore

Annual Children’s Art Exhibit

Wakefield Campus, Montefiore Medical Center

Each spring, Montefiore’s Wakefield Campus hosts an art exhibit created by children in the Creative Classrooms Visual Arts Program (CCVAP).  The children are students at nearby elementary schools in the Bronx.  Following an opening reception for the young artists and their guests, the art is displayed for two weeks.  Past exhibit themes have included pieces entitled, “Our Beautiful World,” “A Year of Inspiration,” and “Imagination at Work.”

Administered by The Partnership for Inner-City Education, the CCVAP brings art and literacy education to over 10,000 students in inner-city Catholic elementary schools in the Bronx and Manhattan. CCVAP introduces students to the arts and engages them in creating, reflecting, discussing and writing about art, cultivating hands-on learning and critical thinking.

CCVAP has organized the annual children’s art exhibit at the Wakefield site for over ten years.  The students take great pride in having their work shown publicly, while Montefiore associates and visitors enjoy the beautiful art on display.
