Block Schedule

Rotation schedules for IR residents reflect real world practice and emphasize training environments in which residents take a primary procedural role.

R4 residents rotate through multiple different practice environments, assume varied team roles, and have flexibility to adapt their schedule to particular procedural, research, or additional diagnostic imaging interests.

Sample R4 Schedule (IR & ESIR)

R5 residents assume the primary role as proceduralists at Moses Campus. They lead teams of junior residents, provide inpatient and on-call consultation, and develop their skills as primary IR providers for a range of conditions.

Sample R5 Schedule (IR)

Residents schedule vacations (4 weeks per year) using a combination of block time and individual days. This gives residents the flexibility to balance their work and personal time, to achieve a balanced schedule that coordinates with their home and work requirements.

Interventional Call

Interventional beeper call is shared among the R4 and R5 Interventional and ESIR residents. Diagnostic Radiology residents may additionally share some IR call responsibilities, depending on the interest in ESIR. There is no in-house IR call requirement.

R4 and ESIR residents continue to take Diagnostic Radiology call, primarily when on imaging-related rotations. However, they are assigned fewer diagnostic call slots in lieu of their IR-related call responsibilities.

Locations

Interventional Radiology maintains an active practice at Montefiore’s three main campuses: Moses Hospital, Weiler Hospital, and Wakefield Hospital. R4 residents participate in extended rotations at Weiler Hospital and shorter rotations at Moses Hospital. R5 Residents primarily rotate at Moses Hospital.
