Interventional Radiology Residency
Take the Diagnostic and Integrated Interventional Radiology Residency & Fellowship Programs Virtual TourSee why so many applicants choose Montefiore-Einstein |
The Montefiore Division of Interventional Radiology is proud to offer dedicated integrated interventional radiology within the framework of our extensive training program. We offer access to a wide range of both diagnostic and procedure training opportunities, with a focus on training outstanding critical thinking and procedural experts.
Montefiore’s diverse population and urban setting gives residents access to a unique combination of sub-specialty expertise and population health focused care. Clinical highlights reflect the diversity of our patient population and range of specialty collaboration. Montefiore features a large liver, kidney, and cardiac transplant program, an extensive oncology program with both clinical and research focus, as well as a dedicated children’s hospital.
Interventional residents participate in the complete radiology experience. R1-R3 focus on diagnostic imaging as integrated members of the Diagnostic Radiology training program yet have a differentiated experience that includes added hands-on procedural opportunity, specialty conferences, and IR team meetings. Please refer to the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program and Diagnostic Radiology Residency Clinical Rotations pages for more information.
R4 residents focus on developing procedural competency through numerous dedicated IR rotations, ICU and other interdisciplinary clinical and specialty-procedure rotations, combined with IR clinic experience and active participation in interdisciplinary conferences. In addition to interventional radiology, residents may rotate through clinical rotations in: Vascular Surgery, Transplant Surgery, Hepatology and Medical Oncology.
R5 residents are completely focused on IR rotations and lead in the angio suite! The R5 year is almost exclusively dedicated to fluoroscopy, CT- and US-guided procedures under the supervision of our seven, full-time faculty members.
All Integrated Interventional residents have opportunities to participate in IR-focused research throughout their training. They maintain an active connection to the IR service during the diagnostic portion of their training and participate in interdisciplinary and IR teaching conferences.
Montefiore offers two designated spots per year in our ACGME-accredited integrated Interventional Radiology Residency Program. Interested applicants should apply through ERAS (ACGME ID: 4163500010) for an advanced level PGY-2 position. Applicants must apply separately for a PGY-1 internship.
