Approximately 55,000 patients each year come to the Department of Family and Social Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center for an array of healthcare needs, from general to specialty care and from prenatal to end-of-life.
Health Centers and Clinics
The Department of Family and Social Medicine provides health services for families in internal medicine, family medicine, pediatrics and OB/GYN and Women's Health services at our two primary outpatient clinics of the Montefiore Medical Group, the Family Health Center and Williamsbridge, and at more than 20 other affiliates in the Bronx and Westchester, N.Y.
Many of our locations offer extended business hours to accommodate hectic schedules, and select sites also provide urgent care for walk-in patients. All of our health centers and clinics accept most insurance plans.

Inpatient Family Medicine
Should you or any of your family members need care that requires an overnight stay, Montefiore Medical Center offers exceptional specialty and emergency services. Our specialty programs include those in cardiology, cardiac surgery, cancer care, organ and tissue transplantation, children's health, women's health, surgery and surgical subspecialties.

Palliative Care
Palliative care is a unique field of medicine that focuses on relieving the physical and emotional symptoms of patients who are suffering from serious, and often incurable, illnesses. The Montefiore Palliative Care (PCARE) service looks to provide patients and their families with emotional and spiritual support and improve quality of life. Our Alternatives for Pain Relief and Improved Living program (APRIL) also offers complementary services like acupuncture treatments, pain-management seminars and bereavement support groups.
Wound Healing
The Department of Family and Social Medicine's Wound Healing Program provides an array of treatment approaches to patients with chronic wounds, including pressure ulcers, leg and foot ulcers, post-radiation wounds, rheumatoid ulcers and sickle cell ulcers. Our team of wound care specialists offers both inpatient care at our West and North Campuses, as well as outpatient services at our wheelchair-accessible facility on the Grand Concourse.
