Endocrinology
Since its inception in 1965, the Division of Endocrinology at Montefiore Medical Center has evolved into one of the largest and most well respected in the New York metropolitan area. Delivering the highest quality care with a wealth of expertise behind them, our team of board-certified physicians focus on the treatment and management of the full spectrum of endocrine disorders, including those affecting the pituitary, adrenal, thyroid systems, as well as metabolic bone disease, diabetes and metabolism. Our faculty is also active in research, particularly in the areas of diabetes, obesity and thyroid diseases. In fact, Montefiore was one of the first hospitals in the country to use radioactive iodine to treat hyperthyroidism.
Our division is a full-service destination, providing sophisticated lab and radiological service, as well as consultations. While we primarily treat patients 18 and older, we also work collaboratively with the pediatric endocrinologists at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore. Our multidisciplinary team of endocrinologists, nurse practitioners, diabetes nurse educators and nutritionists collaborate with specialists in nuclear medicine, women’s health and surgery. Specialized educational and treatment services are available for individuals with diabetes through our Clinical Diabetes Program. We provide a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to each patient's treatment with the goal of maintaining optimal health through advanced and patient-centered care.
