Our Approach to Transcatheter Tricuspid Valve Repair & Replacement
At Montefiore Einstein Center for Heart and Vascular Care, our highly specialized team of experts are leaders in minimally invasive and robot-assisted surgical techniques used to treat the full spectrum of valve disease. We use transcatheter tricuspid valve repair (TTVR) to treat tricuspid regurgitation, a condition where the heart's tricuspid valve fails to close completely. Our Center for Heart and Vascular Care is ranked in the top 1% of all hospitals in the nation for Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery according to U.S. News & World Report.
TTVR: A Leading Surgical Alternative
The tricuspid valve moves blood from the heart’s right upper chamber (atrium) into the right bottom chamber (ventricle). Regurgitation occurs when blood flows backward into the atrium. The procedure for TTVR is similar to TAVR (transcatheter aortic valve repair) in which your surgeon places a TriClip onto the tricuspid valve. This procedure repairs the valve and stops the incorrect blood flow.
