Our Approach to Complex Cardiac Arrhythmias
A globally respected leader in the diagnosis, treatment, and research of heart rhythm conditions, the Montefiore Einstein Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Program is one of the highest-volume centers in the country for the treatment of complex cardiac arrhythmia. Our program is also a leading educational facility for medical fellows, and we take pride in training the next generation of visionary electrophysiologists. We’re ranked in the top 1% of all hospitals in the nation for Cardiology, Heart & Vascular Surgery according to U.S. News & World Report.
Advanced Treatments
Our team of world-renowned cardiac electrophysiologists provides early detection and treatment for a vast spectrum of conditions relating to cardiac arrhythmia. Known for its rigorous excellence and breakthrough innovation, the Arrhythmia and Electrophysiology Program has pioneered revolutionary advancements in the field, having implanted the first-ever transvenous cardiac pacemaker and performed the second-ever implantation of a permanent defibrillator in the U.S. We are also one of the few centers in the world to treat persistent atrial fibrillation with specialized ablation targets and to perform complete, fluoroless (without x-ray) catheter ablation for all arrhythmias, eliminating exposure to ionizing radiation. Our center serves as an international referral site for critical procedures, including catheter ablation and cardiac device implantation. We are also conducting multicenter, randomized controlled clinical trials in atrial fibrillation and ventricular tachycardia across the world. We are engaged with all available energy sources for ablation, such as radiofrequency and cryoenergy, and we are an IDE FDA clinical trial site for newer energy sources such as Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA).
Our state-of-the-art treatments include:
- Catheter Ablation of Arrhythmias (Radiofrequency, Cryoenergy and Pulsed Field Ablation–PFA)
- Atrial Fibrillation
- Atrial Flutter
- Ventricular Tachycardia
- Ventricular Fibrillation
- Supraventricular Tachycardia (SVT)
- Premature Ventricular Contractions (PVC)
- Left Atrial Appendage Closure Devices
- WATCHMAN™ Device and Technique
- LARIAT Suture Delivery Service®
- Amulet
- Cardiac Resynchronization Therapy (CRT)
- Pacemaker Implantation
- Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) Implantation
- Physiologic Cardiac Pacing
- Fluoroless Procedures
- Laser Lead Extraction
- Myocardial Strain Imaging
- Cardiac Autonomic Medication
- More Advanced Treatments
- Implantable Loop Recorder (ILR)
