Psychiatry Residency Training Program
We provide remarkable training and education for residents to launch their careers as outstanding clinicians and emerging leaders in the field of psychiatry. Our Program is known for its welcoming, inclusive atmosphere and collegial spirit. At the core of our Program’s mission is providing excellent, state-of-the-art psychiatric care to our Bronx population.
Psychiatry Fellowship Programs
Our programs offer fellows broad clinical and research experiences, as well as mentorship from world-renowned experts across a wide variety of subspecialties, including addiction psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry, consultation-liaison psychiatry, forensic psychiatry and geriatric psychiatry, providing specialized training for the next generation of psychiatrists.
Psychology Training Programs
The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences’ psychology training programs are committed to providing a comprehensive educational experience. We afford our trainees the opportunity to pursue a broad-based internship that encompasses clinical service, training, supervision and research, as well as a highly specialized postdoctoral program that hones in on one of five specializations within health service psychology.
Psychology Internship Training Program
Consistent with the mission and vision of the medical center, the aim of the Psychology Internship Training Program is to achieve a balance between clinical service, training and supervision, and research throughout the internship year, while capitalizing on the unique opportunities that arise from being housed in a busy academic medical center. In addition, as Montefiore Einstein has a long history of being at the forefront of community service in their training and direct care, psychology interns are afforded opportunities to further expand their professional identities through community service and through mental health advocacy within the hospital, in the surrounding community and beyond.
Postdoctoral Fellowship Residency Programs
Across all specializations, the Postdoctoral Residency Program is committed to providing a comprehensive training experience that facilitates each postdoctoral fellow’s growth and development as an independent, early-career professional psychologist. As such, a primary goal of the Postdoctoral Residency Program in Health Service Psychology is to assist each postdoctoral fellow in strengthening, consolidating and integrating their clinical and professional skills into their professional identity so that they will be able to function autonomously by the end of their training year.
Research Fellowship Programs
The scope of activities of our research fellowships, oriented toward mental illness, addiction and behavioral health, extends from fundamental science to health services research. Our investigators share an overarching commitment to marshal every plausible and promising approach for addressing the profound disability, premature mortality, suffering and stigma associated with psychiatric conditions.
