About Our Program
The Wakefield Child Outpatient Psychiatry Division at Montefiore Einstein provides comprehensive, state-of-the-art treatment for a wide range of mental and behavioral health conditions for children and adolescents aged 4 and older. The CARE program at the Wakefield Child Outpatient Division offers parenting groups for caregivers of children receiving mental health services. CARE aims to foster a safe and nonjudgmental space for parents and other primary caregivers to reflect together and support one another through the emotional experience of parenting, and to strengthen parent-child relationships while reducing parenting stress.
Licensed professionals and clinicians with extensive clinical expertise in diagnosing and treating a wide range of children’s mental and behavioral health conditions provide compassionate, evidence-based care. Our providers with extensive clinical expertise in all areas of behavioral health include psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, licensed mental health counselors and licensed creative arts therapists.
In addition to the CARE Program, the Wakefield Child Outpatient Psychiatry Division offers compassionate and individualized talk therapy and medication treatment as part of our comprehensive mental health support services, along with various treatment modalities to address the specific needs of young patients and their families.

Our Services
As a community-focused and research-driven program, the CARE Program at Montefiore Einstein combines methods from attachment theory and developmental psychopathology for children aged 6 to 18. CARE has been found to reduce parenting stress, improve caregiver reflective functioning and strengthen youth-reported attachment security.
This specialized patient- and family-centered treatment is available for a range of emotional and behavioral problems including:
- Adjustment disorders
- Anxiety disorders
- Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
- Conduct disorders
- Depression and depressive disorders
