With You Every Step of the Way
To aid you on your transplant journey, we offer you and your family additional support services including language translation, education about diagnosis and procedure, nutrition guidance, assistance navigating insurance, and lifelong follow-up care with your transplant team and primary care physician.
While awaiting a matching donor, our multidisciplinary team will regularly follow up with you and your primary care team to make sure you are maintaining general overall health. We also offer nutritional guidance before and after your surgery.
Your transplant team will offer you and your family guidance on all aspects of your recovery, including medication, after-care, and follow-up visits.
We offer expert translators to support you and your family. The members of our transplant team also speak multiple languages.
Patients recovering from transplant surgery are placed in our inpatient transplant unit to be monitored directly after surgery and while in recovery. The unit is led and staffed by specialists who work solely with transplant patients, who are trained to anticipate specific transplant patient needs.
Follow-Up Care
Following transplant and discharge from the hospital, we provide comprehensive, lifelong follow-up care in collaboration with your primary care physician.
Patients typically stay in the hospital five to ten days after transplant, depending on condition, and monitored closely by a team of transplant experts to ensure that your new organ is functioning well. Prior to discharge, we will provide you and your care team with a plan and education on recovery at home.
After you have returned home and are recovering from transplant surgery, you will return to our outpatient facility on a recurring basis for follow-up appointments with your transplant team, routine lab work and other evaluations.
All transplant recipients are given immunosuppressants to prevent infection or rejection of the new organ, along with other medications as directed by their transplant team.
