Pediatric Rehabilitation

About Our Program

The Montefiore Einstein Division of Pediatric Rehabilitation is committed to treating children and adolescents with neuromuscular and musculoskeletal disorders, spinal cord injuries, developmental disorders and other conditions. Our specialized medical and therapy Program is designed to help children of all ages regain or improve physical function, mobility and independence.

Our pediatric team includes physicians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, rehabilitation psychologists, prosthetists, orthotists and nurses. This multidisciplinary team ensures each child’s successful functional recovery or return to school with the necessary medical recommendations, accommodations and modifications.

The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) is one of “America’s Best Children’s Hospitals” according to U.S. News & World Report.

Our Pediatric Rehabilitation Services

Our pediatric physiatrists develop a customized, comprehensive treatment plan for your child in collaboration with a team of specialists. In addition to working with a wide range of pediatric clinicians, social workers and Child Life specialists throughout the Montefiore Einstein network, we also collaborate closely with experts at our Rose F. Kennedy Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center.

Our primary goal is to facilitate rapid and effective recovery. Through our child-centered programs, we aim to help children and adolescents return to their lives, whether that’s in school, socializing with their peers or enjoying community and extracurricular activities. We also ensure your child’s smooth transition as they age out of the pediatric system, which is essential for young people living with pediatric-onset disabilities and other conditions that require long-term rehabilitation.

Our specialized services include:

  • Inpatient and outpatient consultations
  • Botox injections under electrical stimulation and ultrasound guidance
  • Peripheral alcohol nerve blocks under ultrasound guidance
  • Intrathecal baclofen pump refills
  • Electrodiagnostic studies
  • Prosthetic and orthotic management
  • Wheelchair and adaptive equipment evaluation and management

Your Pediatric Rehabilitation Team
