Sports Medicine Fellowship

About the Sports Medicine Fellowship

Our Sports Medicine Fellowship is a one-year program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and is part of the Rehabilitation Medicine Core Program. Established in 2014, the Program aims to develop highly knowledgeable and skilled sports medicine physicians while providing the best possible healthcare to individuals with musculoskeletal injuries. We serve a broad age range, from adolescents to older adults, and cater to individuals of all activity levels, from the sedentary to professional athletes. Additionally, we assist in the evaluation, diagnosis and management of individuals who sustain concussions. Our patient population includes various backgrounds from the Bronx, Westchester County and the Hudson Valley.

The Sports Medicine Fellowship Program at Montefiore Einstein is unique in providing both athletes and non-athletes with comprehensive care across the rehabilitation spectrum. This includes prehabilitation, such as making recommendations for training programs to prevent injuries in athletes; managing acute injuries in collaboration with the Emergency Department team and orthopedic surgeons; and offering rehabilitation care in partnership with the core physical medicine and rehabilitation team, which encompasses cardiac/pulmonary rehabilitation, balance rehabilitation and therapists across disciplines.

Why Sports Medicine Fellows Choose Montefiore Einstein

We offer three positions each year. Clinical activity and fellowship training occur at Montefiore Einstein, Jacobi Medical Center, North Central Bronx Hospital and St. John’s Riverside Hospital in Yonkers.
