About Our Program
At Montefiore Einstein, our Cancer Rehabilitation Program is dedicated to optimizing the recovery and quality of life for patients undergoing cancer treatment and survivorship. We take a multidisciplinary approach, integrating the expertise of physiatrists, physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and oncology specialists to address cancer patients’ unique challenges. Our team focuses on managing pain, fatigue, neuropathy, lymphedema and functional impairments to enhance independence and well-being.
We tailor rehabilitation plans to each patient’s specific needs, whether they are recovering from surgery, managing the effects of radiation or chemotherapy or dealing with long-term survivorship challenges. Our evidence-based interventions include therapeutic exercise, assistive device training, cognitive rehabilitation and psychosocial support to improve mobility, strength and overall function. For patients experiencing pain and spasticity, we offer advanced procedures such as trigger point injections, botulinum toxin injections and nerve blocks.
Montefiore Einstein’s Cancer Rehabilitation Program is committed to providing compassionate, comprehensive care beyond treatment. We collaborate closely with oncologists and primary care providers to ensure continuity of care and offer support services that address emotional and psychological well-being. Whether patients require inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient therapy or home-based services, our goal is to maximize recovery and improve overall quality of life throughout the cancer journey.

About Cancer Rehabilitation
Montefiore Einstein’s Cancer Rehabilitation Program addresses a wide range of conditions that can result from cancer and its treatments. We provide specialized care for patients experiencing musculoskeletal pain, cancer-related fatigue, neuropathy and lymphedema and spasticity, which can impact mobility and daily function. Our team also treats postsurgical impairments, such as weakness, stiffness and limited range of motion, as well as radiation fibrosis and chemotherapy-induced cognitive dysfunction, often referred to as “chemo brain.” Neurological complications, including stroke, balance disorders and peripheral nerve damage, are also managed through individualized rehabilitation strategies. Additionally, we assist patients with speech and swallowing difficulties, pelvic floor dysfunction and functional deficits that affect independence in activities of daily living.
