Pulmonary conditions refer to diseases that affect the lungs and respiratory system. They can impact the airways, lung tissue, blood vessels or pleura (the lining of the lungs). These conditions range from common and mild to rare and life-threatening.

Risk categories for pulmonary conditions include lifestyle factors, environmental conditions, occupational hazards, genetic predisposition and health-related issues. Individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, chronic bronchitis and emphysema face the highest risk. Additionally, those exposed to asbestos, silica dust, coal dust, fumes, chemicals, air pollution or wildfire smoke are also at increased risk.
