Research & Clinical Trials
We believe the best research environments are diverse, equitable and inclusive, and are committed to building and sustaining a cancer research program that embraces these values.
Here’s how principles of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) shape the medical research and clinical trials we work on at our NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.
DEI & Research
To enhance the level of diversity, equity and inclusiveness of our research programs, we’re implementing a plan to:
- Improve access to cancer clinical trials for underrepresented minorities
- Increase community collaboration and participation in all aspects of cancer research
- Educate, train, and support a diverse cancer research workforce
Clinical Trials Access
Clinical trials are an important part of cancer care that in many cases offer people access to new medications, treatments and diagnostic tools. They also give us crucial information that we can use to improve care for people with cancer at Montefiore Einstein Comprehensive Cancer Center, across the nation, and around the world.
It is critical that clinical trials are accessible to everyone—especially minority and historically underserved in the community we serve (our catchment area). We work in partnership with our Community Advisory Board and our (local geographic) Catchment Area Research team to fund pilot studies designed to better understand and eliminate barriers to clinical trial participation.
