Michel Nassar, MD, MSc, is Director, AeroDigestive Program at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, and Co-Director, CranioFacial Clinic and Associate Professor of Otolaryngology at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Nassar takes a multidisciplinary approach to patients with complex aerodigestive disease. His clinical interests include minimally invasive airway surgery and reconstruction, and the medical and surgical management of pediatric hearing loss, including endoscopic ear surgery, cochlear implants and bone anchored hearing aids (BAHA). He also has expertise in the medical and surgical management of velopharyngeal disorders.
Dr. Nassar earned his medical degree at Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon in 2005. He began his postgraduate training in France, completing an otolaryngology residency at Hotel Dieu de France Hospital in 2010 and his Masters in Surgical Sciences and pediatric otolaryngology fellowship in 2012. He then came to the United States, completing a pediatric otolaryngology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in 2013.
In addition to his interests in the use of simulation in medical education, Dr. Nassar also has an interest in congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) and hearing loss, including targeted CMV screening and the use of Valganciclovir for CMV-infected hearing-impaired infants (ValEAR). His work has been shared through peer-reviewed journals and oral presentations. He is also a reviewer for Laryngoscope, the International Journal of Pediatric Otorhinolaryngology and the European Annals of Otorhinolaryngology.
Dr. Nassar is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, the American Academy of Pediatrics and the International Federation of Oto-Rhino-Laryngological Societies. He has been listed among the New York Times’ Super Doctors - Rising Stars.
