Barry Kraushaar, MD , is an orthopedic surgeon at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Kraushaar’s clinical focus centers on orthopedic sports medicine with an emphasis on joint repair and reconstruction, including the shoulder, rotator cuff and labrum injuries, elbow tendon and ligaments, hip arthroscopy, knee meniscus, anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries and cartilage injuries. His other clinical focus centers on adult reconstruction, including total hip replacement with anterior and posterior approaches and some revisions as well as partial and total knee replacement with some revisions. He uses robotic guidance routinely.

After earning his Doctor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in 1990, Dr. Kraushaar completed a surgical internship at Lenox Hill Hospital in 1991. He completed his orthopedics residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital in 1995, where he was Chief Resident. Following this, Dr. Kraushaar completed a sports medicine fellowship at Georgetown University/Virginia Sportsmedicine Institute in 1996.

Dr. Kraushaar’s research aligns with his clinical expertise. His work has been shared through numerous peer-reviewed publications.

Dr. Kraushaar is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons in Orthopaedic Surgery with a Subspecialty Certification in Sports Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, where he is on the Board of Councilors. In 1996, Dr. Kraushaar was a nominee for The Charles P. Neer Award of the American Shoulder and Elbow Society. He has been named in Castle Connolly’s “Top Doctors-New York Metro Area” since 2004, and has been named in Hudson Valley Magazine’s “Top Doctors”.
