Sean P. McGrath, MD, FACS, is a general surgeon and Associate Professor, Surgery at Montefiore-Einstein. With advanced training in minimally invasive surgical techniques and robotic surgery, Dr. McGrath’s clinical focus is on care for patients with disorders of the skin, gallbladder and small bowel/colon. He also has an interest in the use of minimally invasive techniques for the repair of various inguinal, ventral and incisional hernias, as well as the treatment of skin and soft tissue conditions such as lumps, bumps, cysts and tumors.

After completing his Bachelor of Science in psychology at North Carolina State University, Dr. McGrath attended American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2012. From 2013 to 2018, he completed his general surgery residency at Greenville Health System, University of South Carolina School of Medicine.

His research interests include general and robotic surgery, surgical education and international medicine. He has shared his work through poster presentations, oral presentations and submissions to peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. McGrath is board certified in General Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and member of the American Medical Association, among others.
