Raj Sahulee, DO, FAAP, FACC, is Interim Director, Pediatric Cardiovascular Care Unit and Associate Program Director, Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship Program at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. As a cardiac intensivist, Dr. Sahulee’s clinical focus is on the care of infants, children and young adults with congenital and acquired cardiovascular illness. He has a particular interest in the pre-operative stabilization and post-operative recovery of patients undergoing cardiovascular surgery and other invasive procedures.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Arts in biology from Grinnell College in 2000, Dr. Sahulee earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University in 2004. He completed his pediatric residency at St. Vincent’s Hospital Manhattan in 2007 and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2012. Following this, Dr. Sahulee was a Senior Fellow in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia until 2013.

Dr. Sahulee’s clinical research is primarily focused on using national and international registry data to help inform questions about pediatric heart failure, arrhythmias and single-ventricle heart disease. He also researches methods to reduce unnecessary variation within care systems and improve communication among teams. Dr. Sahulee’s work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, books, chapters and review articles, and he has shared his work through national and international abstract presentations and invited presentations. He is also a reviewer for the World Journal of Pediatrics and Artificial Organs.

Dr. Sahulee is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics with a subspecialty in Pediatric Cardiology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Cardiology. He is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Osteopathic Association, the Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Society and the Pediatric Cardiology Society of Greater New York.
