David S. Herszenson, MD, MPH, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Family Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. His clinical focus centers on managing chronic diseases that are common in the South Bronx, such as diabetes and hypertension. Previous to this, Dr. Herszenson practiced primary care at Bronx Health Collective from 2008 to 2021.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Science with Distinction in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin in 1998, Dr. Herszenson earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in 2004. He then completed his family medicine residency at Montefiore in 2008, where he was Chief Resident in his final year. Following this, Dr. Herszenson completed his Masters of Public Health in Policy and Management at Hunter College in 2015.

Much of Dr. Herszenson’s work is dedicated to improving electronic medical records (EMRs) and training physicians in EMRs.

Dr. Hersenson is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, Physicians for a National Health Program and the National Physicians Alliance. In 2017, the Leo M. Davidoff Society awarded him Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students.
