Johnny Tran, MD, is an anesthesiologist and Clinical Assistant Professor at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Tran’s clinical focus includes providing general anesthesia and regional nerve blocks for patients undergoing surgery. In addition, he provides inpatient acute pain consultations and sees patients as an outpatient for chronic pain. To treat chronic pain, he uses evidence-based and a multi-modal approach that includes medications, therapy and fluoroscopic or ultrasound-guided interventions.

In 2013, Dr. Tran received his Bachelor of Arts in biochemistry and molecular biology from Hendrix College. He then pursued his medical education at University of Iowa, earning his Doctor of Medicine in 2017. He started his postgraduate training at University of Michigan Hospitals and Clinics, completing his anesthesiology residency in 2021. He continued his training with a tri-instuitutional pain medicine fellowship with NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital, Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, Hospital for Special Surgery, completing it in 2022.

Dr. Tran has a particular research interest in treating postsurgical chronic pain. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed publications, oral presentations, posters, abstracts and lectures.

Dr. Tran is certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.
