Jacob Cynamon, MD, is Director of the Division of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Director of the Vascular and Interventional Radiology Fellowship and the Interventional Radiology Residency Program at Montefiore. He is also a Professor of Radiology at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Cynamon’s clinical focus is in interventional oncology, TIPS, uterine fibroid management, and management of BPH, venous disease and peripheral vascular disease.
Dr. Cynamon received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 1979 at Polytechnic Institute of New York. He earned his Doctor of Medicine in 1983 at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. After obtaining his medical degree, Dr. Cynamon completed an internship in Surgery and a residency in Radiology at Montefiore. In 1988, he completed a fellowship in Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center.
Dr. Cynamon published one of the first reports of the power pulse spray technique for the management of DVT. He also described the popular “lyse and wait” technique for declotting thrombosed dialysis grafts. He is the lead author or contributor to over 100 peer-reviewed articles, multiple book chapters and solicited reviews. Dr. Cynamon is a frequent speaker at national and international symposiums. In 1992, Dr. Cynamon began an Annual Symposium on Current Issues and New Techniques in Interventional Radiology. The international conference covering the various types of IR is currently in its 27th consecutive year.
Dr. Cynamon was named a Top Doctor in New York Magazine's fifth and tenth anniversary editions and the past several consecutive years. He is board certified in Interventional Radiology and Diagnostic Radiology.
