About

Daniel Banuelos, MD, is an attending surgeon at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Surgery at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Banuelos’ clinical focus involves using minimally invasive techniques to treat a wide range of surgical diseases including gallbladder removal, appendectomy, ventral and inguinal hernia, complex abdominal wall hernias, diverticulitis and colon cancer. He has a special interest in applying advanced surgical techniques to both elective and emergent cases to enhance recovery and reduce morbidity.

After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the University of California, Merced in 2011, Dr. Banuelos earned his Doctor of Medicine at the University of California, Davis in 2017. He then completed his general surgery residency at Sunrise Health Graduate Medical Education Consortium in 2022, followed by a Mastery in General Surgery, a non-accredited acute care surgery fellowship at Montefiore Einstein.

Dr. Banuelos performs outcomes-based research in the application of minimally invasive surgery and robotic techniques for emergency general surgery. His work has been published in The Journal of Immunology and presented at the Annual Trauma Quality Improvement Program (TQIP) Conference.

Dr. Banuelos is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery, the American College of Surgeons and the American Medical Association.
